k̓ʷałanáwa

Origin:

k̓ʷałá (to be glad) + -awa (directive)


Definition:

Be glad for, be pleased with, thank.


Exmaples:

  1. pak̓ʷałanáwaša aniłáan ‘they’re giving thanks to the Creator’;
  2. ák̓ʷałanawatanam ana k̓ʷapɨ́n tkʷátat iníčayiya čná ‘you should give thanks for the food he placed here for us’;
  3. k̓ʷałanáwašamaš inmíyaw háaštyaw kumaš k̓ʷałanáwaša inmíyaw waq̓íšwityaw ‘thank you for my breath and thank you for my life’;
  4. k̓ʷałanáwašamaš ‘I am pleased with you’;
  5. k̓ʷałanáwašamaš naamí aniłá ‘thank you, our Creator’;
  6. k̓ʷałanáwašamataš apam kú wiyánawiša ‘I’m glad when you’re coming’;
  7. kuš ák̓ʷałanawax̣a inmína miyánašna ‘and I am glad for my child’;
  8. kuš ák̓ʷałanawašana ana pmáy pawɨ́npatašana tkʷátatna ‘and I was glad for them, they were going to get the food’;
  9. kunata kʷaaná ák̓ʷałanawax̣a ana kú pinátamasklikɨnx̣a tiičám wawáx̣ɨmyaw ‘and we indeed give thanks to that (land) when the land turns itself to spring’;
  10. kunata kʷaaná ák̓ʷałanawax̣a ‘and we are glad for that’.
