Mortar. A small hollowed out bowl generally made of wood for pounding roots, meat, etc. Usually made of oak. paˀaníx̣ana k̓púł ilukasmí u k̓ʷáyk̓a áw pšwanmí ‘they used to make their mortar out of wood or stone’; ápax̣ɨmkɨnk k̓púłpa ‘grind it in the mortar!’.
