wáp̓ay

Jointed rush, common reed, Phragmites australis. Used for making mats which are laid on the ground for drying roots (as in making ɨpá the tule mat wouldn’t allow circulation underneath). išáx̣ƛ̓ka wáp̓ay ku kʷɨ́nki aníya tamátačay ‘she cut the reeds and with that she made a mat’.
